A Boston Vacation is More than a Tea Party
by CL Hendricks

Expanding past the shoreline of the Massachusetts Bay, Boston extends for miles inland. Boston was the largest city in America up until 1755. Unlike other early American cities, Boston suffered the most during the British clamp down on the colonies. This long historic past provides visitors with many small, site- specific museums and historical areas.

The North End of Boston includes the North Church and Paul Revere's home. A visit here will give the visitor an appreciation for the character of our Nation's heroes.

Walking tours of the historic areas are a wonderful way to experience history first hand. Guided tours of the Freedom Trail immerse Boston visitors in the daily life of the early settlers. The Freedom Trail winds its way around sixteen of Boston's most famous historical sites.

Across the street from the Boston Commons is the Public Garden. Visitors are greeted by gorgeous landscaping and the famous statue of George Washington on a horse. The beauty of the garden is just one reason it is so often used as a background by filmmakers and wedding photographers.

For the romantic visitors, the Public Garden offers rides in the distinctive Swan boats. The story Make Way for Ducklings took place on these grounds and a sculpture in honor of this was commissioned and is on display.

The Museum of Fine Art features collections from all over the globe, curator discussion on special exhibits and one of largest standing exhibits of musical instruments in the country. Monthly performances using these antique instruments are held inside the museum.

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is a reproduction of a 15th century Venetian palace. Isabella was an ardent collector of paintings, rare books, statues, tapestries and much more. Her collection includes works by Degas, Rembrandt, Titian, Monet and more. The landscaping surrounding the three story architectural wonder are botanical wonders that provide breathtaking views during all seasons of the year.

Sport enthusiasts will find themselves immersed in a city that is filled with home town pride. The Boston Bruins, the Boston Celtics and the Boston Blazers call TD Gardens their home. Offering more than just hockey and basketball games, TD Gardens hosts many other events.

WWE Smack Downs and amateur and professional Dance and Cheerleading competitions provide spectators with a wide range of sporting events. Music concert tickets at TD Gardens are available online and ensure that vacationers will be able to see their favorite musician in concert during their visit to Boston.

The Prudential Center Skywalk Observatory is a must see for any visitor to Boston. The view of the city atop the skywalk of the "Sears Tower of Boston" is absolutely breathtaking. As a starting or final destination of your visit to Boston, the Prudential Center Skywalk is a one-of-a-kind experience.
