Family Fun in Historic Boston, Massachusetts

If you planning a family vacation, consider Boston, Massachusetts; it will be more than just fun and entertainment for the family; you will take a trip back in time in American History and the patriot in you will come alive. This classic Massachusetts city offers great history, entertainment, sports, and lots of fun. There is plenty to do and see in the state's capital, so, it is up to you whether you want to go over the weekend or for a full week's holiday.
The historic Massachusetts Freedom Trail takes you to 16 historical sights that played a huge part in the creation of America. You will see Boston on the Freedom Trail all the way from historic buildings to special places to memorials to statues and much more. You start on the trail at the National Park Visitors Center across from the historic Old State House. You can ask the Park Rangers to lead you on a guided tour or you can explore the trial for yourself, but do wear comfortable walking shoes, since you will be walking quite a bit while on the trail.
If you are a sports fan you will take a special thrill seeing the world famous Boston Red Sox knock one out of the park. The classic Fenway Park is one of the best parks in the entire professional baseball circuit, and the Sox are back and better than ever before after their record breaking victory.
For football fans, do not miss the fantastic New England Patriots, Super Bowl winners in 2002, 2004, and 2005. These talented athletes take the field and are sure to enjoy both adults and kids alike. Be sure to check out their schedule to see when they’re be playing at the fantastic Gillette Stadium, approximately 30 minute south of the city.
Your trip to Boston would be incomplete without a trip to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. Here you will find everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to great souvenirs of the city. Quincy Market's newest resident is the professional chef, Emeril Legasse. Don't miss his fantastic live show.
Spend an afternoon exploring Boston Common, this great green space that is near and dear to the hearts of every Bostonian. Bring the kids to the park and enjoy playing on the many playgrounds, enjoy a pick up game of baseball, softball, basketball, or soccer.
Another park, and a big one at that, is the Public Garden of Boston. E.B. White has made this garden and its swan boats famous in his book, "Trumpet of the Swan". So whenever you are in Boston, bring your family to Public Garden to enjoy a ride on these Swan Boats.
Lastly, do not miss the Harvard University, the world famous Massachusetts institution of higher learning. Seeing the fantastic and historic grounds of Harvard may arouse your kid's interest. And you could always purchase some good books and Ivy League wears from Harvard Square.
